The objective of the Medical Assisting/Patient Care Technician program is to prepare the student for a career as a medical biller/coder, medical records abstractor or insurance specialist in a medical practice or a financial services setting. Near completion of this program, students are eligible to sit for the Certified Insurance and Coding Specialist examination through the NCCT (National Center for Competency Testing). The optional one-month externship allows additional career inroads for those whose ultimate goal is medical billing and coding.
